Killian graduated in 1985 from the Swiss Jazz School, Bern. Since then, he has been active in many different areas of music: Modern Jazz and Fusion, (Interchange), Rhythm ‘n Blues (Guitar Crusher), and especially in big bands (ATS, BBS, and Freiburg Jazz Orchestra). He has led his own big band, the Kilian Heitzler Big Band since 1987. He has worked for CD and radio productions as a composer and arranger. After teaching five years at the Pädagogischen Hochschule Freiburg, Kilian came to the Jazz & Rock Schulen in 1991.
