Song “Tel Aviv” from IMCF student Jonas Birthelmer can be heard on “Galei Zahal,” the most popular radio station in Israel.
Half of the song is sung in German and the other half is sung in Hebrew- a sentimentally vivid pop song is on its way to become a bridge for longing far away.
Jonas lived in Israel for two years, one of which was in Tel Aviv (2005-2006). There he began to study music at the RIMON School Of Jazz And Contemporary Music. Jonas has been studying at the International Music College Freiburg since 2006.
Jonas has now started a solo project- die Jonas Birthelmer Band.
The Song “Tel Aviv” is his first production and has received very positive feedback from the public and his colleagues. The popular Israeli radio station “Galei Zahal” plays the song as part of their program. This has not yet been done before.
“The Idea that someone in Israel can turn their radio on and hear a pop song, which starts in German, that defiantly is motivating and inspiring. This is new for me, and the best way to give something back to the land and friends there.” (Jonas Birthelmer 2009)
